Rex Jose (Philippines)

Hi, I’m Rex. I’m 14 years old from I locos Norte, in the Philippines. I’m so proud to be studying at Albany Junior High School. This is my first year at AJHS and I have made a lot of friends and done a lot of interesting subject like Human Biology, Spanish and Environmental Science. I love spending time with my Filipino friends as well as my kiwi friends and sharing stories about their lives here in NZ. I love the different opportunities here in AJHS. AJHS has a clean and safe environment for kids to be in. Everyone is safe here in AJHS and I would love you to come here and feel what it’s like to be in a safe school and have many great opportunities. (2009)

Kevin Pontolaeng (Indonesia)

I’m Kevin. I come from Indonesia.

I like the way that we learn at AJHS. In this school everything is not really complicate, especially for people who come to NZ from different countries. This school uses a special learning way for students that don’t really know English, so this school will be a good school to go to in NZ.

Akari Matsuoka (Japan)

Hello, my name is Akari. I come from Tokyo in Japan and have been in here for 3 months. I like AJHS because of kind and nice teachers, friends and staffs, and differences of school system. In Japan, we don’t have morning tea time and students have to come to school by themselves without parents. However in NZ, I like the way my host family drop and pick me everyday to school and students walk around school building for following their timetable because I was bored to sit in same class everyday in Japan. I like the way AJHS put naïve bird’s name at every building which are Ruru, Makomako, Kiwi and Tui, also it is delight to listen those bird sounds for school bell. This is fun. (2008)

Jooho Chung (Korea)

On 16th July, I’ve entered to AJHS. I was really nervous but all my classmates said ‘Hi’ to me and some of became my close friends. Everyday at school is awesome and exciting. I can choose some subjects that I like to do. It is quite interesting because in Korea, we cannot choose our subjects. In NZ, I can study some subjects deeply. I want to be a designer so I’ve chosen Fabric Tech as a subject and designed lost of clothes. I have gained confidence and I know I have talent in designing. I’ll not forget this school because this school helped me to start my dream. (2008)

Alexey Stel'Makh (Russia)

Hi, my name is Alexey Stel’Makh. I come to NZ around 3 1/2years ago from Russia. AJHS is very good school to learn because this school is all brand new facilities and also very popular in local. I think the popular reason is because all the teachers are very professional and the best of in their job and very ICT system all around school. This school provides what you will need to learn.

Franck Lardeux (France)

Hello, I’m Franck, come from France.

I want to compare this school with my previous school in France. In France, I have lots of homework and work, school starts at 8:00am and finishes at 4:35pm. We cannot move around the class in the class time. In NZ, we don’t have too much homework. The school starts 9:00am and finishes at 3:15pm. We can stand and go drink etc in class time. The work is not too hard.
