Year 7 Camp 2020
An exciting prospect for our new Year 7 students will be camp planned for Monday the 17th of February to Friday 21st of February. Students will be
going to Te Haruhi Bay, (Shakespear Bay) Whangaparaoa.
Makomako and Kiwi will attend from the 17th to the 19th February.
Tui and Ruru, will attend from the 19th to the 21st February.
The camp will be for three days / two nights.
Students must be at school by 8:30am in order to be on time for their bus. Upon arriving at school, we ask that all students go to their respective
Whanau Atriums where attendance will be taken. The scheduled return time for the Wednesday and Friday is anticipated to be 2.30 pm. Please check
the school website for updates on return times.
Goals for this camp are for the Whanau to get to know each other as well as providing an experience where our young students can learn to take responsibilities
for themselves, be involved in leadership and team building, but most of all to have fun. Students will complete school work prior to camp about
how to cope with personal and social challenges. The school provides tents and all the necessary equipment students will use on the different activities.
Approximately twenty parents are required to help run each camp and be involved in the different activities, including staying overnight. Support is
also required to set up the camp on Sunday the 16th of February for a few hours.
Parents who do help and stay overnight will be (with their permission) police vetted, this is a requirement of the Ministry of Education.
Activities will be challenging and fun. The activities include kayaking, snorkelling, sailing, tramping, problem solving games, orienteering, archery,
and night activities.
The cost of the camp is $200. Direct Credit is our preferred option for payment. The school bank account number is: ASB 12 3107 0017930 00. Please
include student’s name and Yr 7 Camp as the reference.
Your child’s permission form and medical/contact details needs to be completed Tuesday 11th February. The final day for payment of camp is Friday the
14th of February.
