Ollie Baldwin (Yr 10) is once again the winner of the AJHS Library annual Chess Tournament.
In a long, closely fought final, Ollie finally checkmated Ryan Chen (Yr 7).
Our four semi-finalists were Ollie Baldwin, Orien Quiambo, Ryan Chen and Kayal Kumar – all strong players. Besides being runner-up, Ryan was also Top Junior Player – definitely a rising star.
Good luck to our teams this weekend; some travelling to Wellington to compete plus two teams playing online at school.
Many thanks to Jo Ramsay for her time and organisational skills which have enabled our chess players to attend a variety of inter school tournaments where they have built their skills.
