Cushla Shepherd brings a wealth of experience across Years 0–13 as a teacher and leader in both primary and secondary education settings. With a strong background in teaching and leadership across diverse school contexts, Cushla holds a grounded and holistic understanding of the New Zealand education system.
Cushla is deeply passionate about adolescent development and is committed to fostering confident, resilient learners who are grounded in values and character. Her vision is to partner with students, teachers, parents and families to grow responsible young people who contribute meaningfully to their communities and the wider world.
Cushla is married with two adult daughters and enjoys spending time with her whānau, being outdoors, and nurturing strong relationships through whanaungatanga.

As an educational leader and current Associate Principal, I am passionate about guiding adolescent learners through their formative years, creating a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.
I place strong emphasis on student voice and wellbeing, taking the time to build meaningful, trust-based relationships with ākonga and their whānau. I firmly believe that when students feel genuinely known and supported, they are encouraged and enabled to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
With a leadership background grounded in both curriculum and pastoral care, I am committed to fostering a school culture where positive relationships, high expectations, and personal growth are valued and embraced.
Whether it’s on the field, in the classroom, or through leadership opportunities, I find joy in supporting young ākonga as they challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and succeed.

I have had the privilege of serving as Head of Faculty for Physical Education and Health, alongside holding pastoral leadership roles such as a Dean across several school contexts. These dual responsibilities have enabled me to support students academically, socially, and emotionally, strengthening my commitment to holistic student wellbeing and academic success.
As Deputy Principal, I am excited to contribute to the strategic leadership of our school. I am passionate about fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing environment for both ākonga and staff.
Outside of school, I enjoy mountain biking and walking along the beach; being outdoors keeps me grounded, energised, and ready to lead with positivity.

If I’m not in my homeroom you’ll probably find me in the Science labs, the library, backstage at our productions, engaged in collaborative learning conversations with colleagues, or in search of my next coffee.
Proudly straddling the line between geek and nerd, I find joy in knowing stuff about stuff.

As a Hockey coach, I enjoy supporting youth in sport. A highlight each year is heading to Year 9 camp on Kawau Island.
Outside of teaching and coaching, you might find me making art or reading at the beach. BVA, Grad Dip Secondary.

I am passionate about delivering quality learning to all students, and remain committed to strengthening whanau connections within the school community.
I am a strong advocate for physical health and wellbeing. I always strive to make learning fun and engaging, while challenging students to strive for excellence.

Head of Languages, TIC of Japanese. 24 years of experience as a secondary teacher of Japanese and English. I am passionate about empowering students to think critically by motivating them to see patterns in the world around them and create a love of learning. Making connections with students and being an authentic person with a good sense of humour are important to me.

I am an outgoing person who lives with my partner and our fur babies. I am a passionate, dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable educational leader. I love teaching, and believe learning is something that we should want to do.
Lifetime highlights include singing in a sold out UK tour with the NZ Graduate Choir, recording multiple albums, gaining my ATCL in classical singing, performing in the Sydney Opera House, St Pauls Cathedral, Kings College Chapel – Cambridge, La Scala in Florence and the Royal Albert Hall, and roles on Xena Warrior Princess, Hercules, and dancing in a music video for Super Groove.
In more recent years I was an APPA Music Festival conductor and worked in direction teams (as Artistic Director, Musical Director and Choreographer), learning from Will Martin, Cameron Rhodes, Paul Barrett and Lisa Chappell.

My name is Sana, and I’m married to Ahmed Bhatti. I am a mother of two beautiful daughters, aged 15 and 12. We moved to New Zealand in 2019 and we absolutely love this place. Since then we have been living on the North Shore.
I have always been passionate about teaching and my aim is to create a safe and supportive environment for my learners.
Apart from work, I cherish spending quality time with my family and enjoy exploring the outdoors.
I look forward to continuously learning and growing in both my personal and professional life.

Over the past 27 years I have been teaching in schools in Auckland and Taranaki. I have also taught in France.
We learn something new every day in this job, alongside marvellous, energetic young people!
I have a son and a daughter, both studying at university. My interests include long walks, bike riding, ocean swimming, good coffee at the weekend, and French music and cinema.
I recently qualified as a TBRI© practitioner, having spent time out of the classroom learning about trauma-informed approaches to education.

I find teaching art especially rewarding as it provides a space for students (ākonga) to explore their identity and cultural backgrounds within a safe, supportive environment. The relational aspect of teaching is what inspires me most -drawing out the potential in every student.
As a second-year teacher, I have spent the last 10 years pursuing my passion for painting, while also traveling and working as a pastry chef.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time in nature – hiking, surfing, and snowboarding.

I studied microbiology and biotechnology at University and worked in a biotech lab for a couple of years before training to become a teacher.
I love learning about how things work, and even more, how we can apply that knowledge to make useful processes or products.
I love building strong relationships with my students which I see as one of the best ways of helping them to learn and grow to their fullest potential.
My creative outlet is sewing; this became a big passion of mine after I had children, who love to wear what I make.

I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, before moving to Taupo as a teenager, and have considered New Zealand home since stepping off the plane.
Prior to teaching I have had a successful career in Hospitality, before moving into Digital Product Design and Illustration, having completed studies in Creative Technologies. It is my pleasure to be back in the kitchen helping build connections with tamariki and food education.
I’m a Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast, avid hiker and dog walker, with a love of movies and cinema culture, and most importantly – love great food!

I travelled overseas as a youth athlete, and as an adult I have found a love for crossfit. I love surfing, paddle boarding and sailing – the ocean is my happy place.

Auckland’s North Shore is all I have known, and having taught since 2019, I am excited to bring my passions in music, math, and all things cultural to Albany Junior High School.
My favourite challenge is turning the “boring” subjects into something enjoyable, and if you can leave our lesson having learnt and laughed, that’s success in my books!

Outside the classroom I find joy in the immersive worlds of science-fantasy movies and series, while Korean dramas offer an equally compelling escape with their rich storytelling.
My love for travel and scenic beauty keeps me connected to the world’s diverse cultures and landscapes, broadening my personal and professional horizons. In pursuit of balance, I embrace activities that invigorates both my mind and body, finding solace in the rigorous rhythm of boxing, the exhilaration of HIIT gym classes, and the tranquil moments spent savouring the essence of tea.

We have returned to Tamaki Makaurau Auckland after time in Kirikiriroa Hamilton, where I was a teacher aide and kaiako in the bilingual space. I enjoy sports, sci-fi/fantasy, Kapa Haka, and I am passionate about hauora health and wellbeing. It is a privilege to walk alongside tamariki and rangatahi at AJHS as they grow into our citizens of the future.

My world revolves around my daughter. When I’m not spending time with her, I’m learning a foreign language, pondering the mysteries of the universe, jumping down Wikipedia rabbit holes or listening to 20th Century music.
I grew up on the Shore and have lived most of my life here.
Prior to teaching in NZ, I had a career in Finance (13 years) and taught English as a foreign language in Thailand (4 years).
Since completing my Grad Dip in Teaching, I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, language teacher, music specialist, ESOL tutor, maths tutor, Kapa haka leader and School of Rock mentor. I have now found true happiness in helping akonga discover the wonders of mathematics.

I like to live an active and social life. I play all sorts of sports – primarily rugby and netball. I love going out for a run and hitting the gym when I’m not catching up with friends.
I’m a big fan of puzzles, whether it be escape rooms, jigsaws, or books. Anything to keep the brain engaged and ticking.

I have 30 years of teaching experience and am Head of the Digital Curriculum. I enjoy all aspects of Digital Technologies including media and design.
My teaching passion is programming in various languages (i.e. Javascript, Python, Basic, C, HTML and CSS). I also teach Arduino electronics and robotics. I hold a degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Education.
As a lifelong learner, I have recently completed studies at Auckland University in Educational Leadership and Leadership and Digital Collaboration.

I trained as a nurse in the UK in the 90’s, and have been in NZ since 2013. I’ve worked in different environments, including hospitals and the community, loving the role as a health educator and triage nurse.
I have experience in chronic health conditions as well as urgent cares, and strive to give holistic care, using our team to provide wrap-around suport and resources when required.
I live with my family (and several rescue animals) on the North Shore, so you may see/hear me on the weekends either supporting local sports teams or with a net, trying to help animals!
