We are very proud to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our students at the recent 2026 Chinese Speech Competition, hosted by the Confucius Institute in Auckland.
This prestigious regional competition brings together talented young linguists from across the Auckland region. It provides students with a wonderful platform to showcase their Chinese language proficiency, enhance their communication skills, and deepen their understanding of Chinese language and culture.
This year, three students represented AJHS in the highly competitive ‘Secondary Junior Student Category’, going head-to-head with 189 students from 49 schools.

The competition required immense dedication, and our students worked incredibly hard throughout the entire preparation process. The growth in their Mandarin pronunciation and public speaking confidence has been outstanding.
Beyond their linguistic talents, the girls also dazzled audiences during the post-speech talent show. Attendees were treated to a beautiful traditional Chinese fan dance performed by Hasithma and Nathasha, alongside an intricate paper-cutting demonstration by Emma.
