Environmental Science students have been part of the practical solution to improving our local environment.

A few weeks ago, Year 9 Environmental Science students walked down to the Rosedale regeneration project to plant native trees.

The site is becoming a new urban forest, which was started three and a half years ago. Already there have been measurable improvements to freshwater quality, and the number and variety native birds and invertebrates has seen a marked increase.

The new forest is part of our country’s climate change mitigation plan. We hope that the trees we have planted will continue to grow and thrive for many generations to come.

There is a third planting session planned for 3rd August. At the end of this visit AJHS students will have planted around 350 new trees this year.
