AJHS was filled with excitement as students and staff came together to celebrate Samoan Language Week.

Throughout the week, everyone learned and used daily Samoan phrases such as Talofa lava (hello), Fa’afetai (thank you), and Tofa soifua (goodbye). Students who confidently spoke the daily phrases earned raffle tickets, and went into the draw to win a colourful lolly lei.

Each day during whānau time, students answered Samoan Language Week questions and emailed their responses to Miss Liu to be in to win prizes. The enthusiasm and participation from across the school was fantastic.

A major highlight was our fundraising effort, with over 100 pani popo and cups of refreshing vai tipolo sold throughout the week. Daily videos introduced new Samoan phrases, while performances of siva Samoa filled our school with energy, culture, and pride.

From learning new words to enjoying delicious food and watching talented performers, Samoan Language Week brought the AJHSl community together in a fun and meaningful way.

Fa’afetai tele lava to everyone who participated and helped make this celebration such a success!
