AJHS Year 7 students have had an incredible start to their day thanks to the Royal New Zealand Air Force!
Students have been studying ‘forces’ this term, and making model parachutes to investigate the effects of forces such as air resistance and gravity. To bring the subject to life, one of our incredible teachers, Mrs Matthews, organised for the RNZAF to jump out of a plane above AJHS and land on our field!
It was a thrilling display from the RNZAF, and the students were ecstatic to watch this spectacular display unfold before their eyes!!
The skydivers then talked to the students about the forces they use when jumping. The students asked questions like how fast they fall, and the parachuters explained how they control the parachute and the different positions to turn or speed up/slow down.
A huge thank you so much to the Royal New Zealand Air Force, their jumping team and Year 7 parent Paul Lennox (Flight Sergeant and Senior Instructor, RNZAF) for making learning come to life. It’s a day our students will never forget!
