BADMINTON SEASON WRAP UP

The 2026 badminton season has just come to an end, again with some fantastic results for AJHS. We had a total of 10 teams playing in the term 3 badminton competition made up of 3 College teams and 7 Intermediate teams.

Ours teams included students new to badminton, to representative players. Weekly coaching sessions from our Harbour Badminton coach have really assisted with the growth of all of our players, and we look forward to seeing these players continue to be involved next year.

Thank you to our coaches from Harbour Badminton and the parents that assisted with the teams at the games. Congratulations to all of our teams for a successful season, and a special mention to the following teams:

Year 7 and 8:

AJHS Girls Maroon Team – A Grade Intermediate Girls – CHAMPIONS

AJHS Boys Silver Team – B Grade Active Intermediate Boys – Runners Up

AJHS Boys Blue Team – A Grade Active Intermediate Boys – 3rd place

Year 9 and 10:

AJHS Girls Maroon Team – B Grade Active Junior College Girls – 3rd place

HOCKEY SEASON WRAP UP

This year we had 2 Year 7 and 8 teams playing in the North Harbour Intermediate Hockey Competition on a Tuesday night during term 2 and 3. Both of our teams graded in A grade, which meant some tough competition, but the teams have worked hard and shown great improvement across the season.

Both AJHS Boys Blue and AJHS Girls Maroon finished in 9th place for the season.

Year 9 and 10 hockey did not have enough players to form our own team, so, as we have done for a number of years, our students have played in combined teams. We had 3 boys in the combined ASHS/AJHS/Hobsonville Point Secondary School College Boys Hockey Team, who had an amazing season making it into grade 1 and finishing in a very respectable 8th place.

We had 9 girls play in the combined AJHS/ASHS college girls hockey team, who had a great season building strong connections and growing as a team, finishing in 6th place in grade 4.

NETBALL SEASON WRAP UP

It’s been a busy season at Netball North Harbour, with 14 AJHS teams playing in the Netball North Harbour Schools Competition this year. We had 6 x Year 7 teams, 4 x Year 8 teams and 4 x Year 9 & 10 teams take to the courts over terms 2 and 3. Many teams also took part in the tournaments.

A special congratulations to our AJHS College 1 team, Champion of College Grade 7 and to AJHS Year 7 team 2 who finished as runners up in the Year 7 Grade 4. Both of these teams attended Netball North Harbour Prizegiving last week, and were lucky enough to have photos with Mystics players.

ROCK CLIMBING SUCCESS:

Congratulations to Year 8 student Chris Wei, who has been awarded the Junior Boys Novice Overall Award for the recent College Sport Rock Climbing Series.

VOLUNTEERS – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Sport cannot happen without the support of our community.

A big shout out and thank you to every person that has contributed to sport at AJHS in 2026. We are extremely appreciative to the staff, parents, caregivers, current and past students and many others that have taken on roles in coaching, managing, officiating or who have assisted with transport and other tasks to ensure that our students can play.

You are all so appreciated!
