Sport Science – Offered as an option class in Year 9 (across two semesters) and Year 10 (full year).
Do you have a passion for sport, physical activity, recreation and fitness? This course is for you!
Well structured and organised physical activity has many benefits for young people, such as developing leadership skills, cooperation, resilience and confidence. We support this by providing a wide range of learning experiences, both practical and theoretical.
The course consists of a range of topics where students can learn about exercise physiology, methods and principles of training, designing a training program, risk management and safety action plans, leadership and event management, functional anatomy and more. Students can also reach their fitness goals through crossfit, circuit training, team challenges and adventure based learning.
We also aim to create different opportunities that spark interest and curiosity.
In this course we have access to a range of external providers and trips. This includes Crossfit coaching, JUMP (trampoline park) as part of the risk management unit, and most recently golf lessons at North Shore Golf Club.
This course will give a firm foundation to future studies or careers in the Sport and Recreation sector.
