Last Thursday, 39 Year 10 Student Leaders set out to conquer the Pinnacles. It took three hours to walk up to the hut, crossing rivers, bridges and scrambling over rocks. Halfway through the tramp, students paused to jump in an icy watering hole before continuing over the challenging terrain up the mountain.

Finally reaching the top, students relaxed and settled into the hut, whilst preparing for the night’s activities, which included a sunset hike to the peak, speeches and dinner.

Resetting overnight, another group ascended the endless staircases up to the summit in the pitch black of the morning, seeing the breathtaking first rays of the sun from the peak.

Breakfast was a calm atmosphere as those who stayed behind woke up, awakened by the noise of the early risers coming back from the peak. A day of leadership activities ensued, preparing for the last group of speeches, another trek up to the summit, and the final descent in the early hours of the next morning. Setting off at first light, students headed down the mountain, rushing to the promise of bakery food for brunch.

Leadership camp was an experience full of fun, memory-creating activities whilst testing limits for all leaders involved. Thank you to all staff and parents who helped make this trip such a special event in the students’ year.
