In Term 3 our Year 10 students study the physics topic Mechanics. It’s usually a popular topic, as there are lots of fun practicals associated with each learning objective.

Recently the students have been learning about friction, forces and stopping distances, along with car safety features. The practical involves designing and attaching safety features to a trolley, which is then raced down some steep ramps to finally crash into a wall at the bottom. Sometimes the trolley’s even find themselves heading off cliffs (such as the atrium balconies)! The best part is that the trolley’s all have egg passengers which may or may not survive, depending on the student’s ability to keep them safe! No pressure!
