Last week, our Year 8 students had an incredible experience at Te Hāwere-a-Maki / Goat Island Marine Reserve! As part of their learning about being kaitiaki (guardians) of Aotearoa’s natural resources, students explored the Hauraki Gulf’s marine environment through snorkelling adventures and hands-on workshops at the Leigh Marine Laboratory.

They discovered fascinating marine life up close, used big-eye microscopes, explored touch tanks, and took part in lab and field-based activities, all guided by expert instructors. Whether in the water or on land, our students embraced every opportunity to learn about sustainability and the importance of protecting our unique marine ecosystems.

It was a memorable, immersive experience that truly brought their classroom learning to life!
